Dual-Lathe Tending Cell
Project overview
Our client needed to keep two Hyundai lathes running productively without tying up an operator at each machine. Akeratos delivered a robotic tending cell built around a FANUC robot that services both lathes — loading, unloading, and coordinating part flow between the two machines.
What sets this cell apart is the controls approach. Akeratos implemented advanced Macro B program control, giving the robot and the lathes a level of coordination that goes well beyond simple pick-and-place. The macro-based programming allows the cell to manage the two-machine sequence intelligently, adapt to the production flow, and run with the kind of reliability that keeps both spindles cutting.
Delivered in 2025, the cell’s performance and programming approach led our client to expand the relationship into an ongoing engagement — the clearest signal a customer can send that the work delivered.
