Multi-Robot CNC Machine Tending Program
Project overview
A repeat client partnered with Akeratos again to automate machine tending across their CNC lathe operations.
Akeratos deployed a five-robot program built on Universal Robots UR10 cobots, with four robots dedicated to CNC lathe tending. But this project went well beyond loading and unloading parts. The system includes custom-engineered measurement stations that validate critical part thickness in-process — quality assurance built directly into the automation, not bolted on afterward.
On the controls side, Akeratos integrated Flexxbotics for macro-level CNC program control, allowing the robots and machine tools to coordinate as a unified system. And because data you can’t see is data you can’t use, Akeratos developed a data pipeline that transfers production and measurement data to CDC’s data systems in real time — giving their team live visibility into the operation.
The result: a connected, self-validating machine tending program that runs production, verifies quality, and reports on itself.
