Robotic Drilling & Punching Cell

Our client needed to automate a repetitive secondary operation: drilling and punching plastic parts. It’s exactly the kind of task where manual labor adds cost without adding value — consistent, high-volume, and hard on operators over a full shift.

Akeratos delivered a robotic cell built around a Universal Robots UR5e collaborative robot, automating the drilling and punching operations end-to-end. The compact cobot footprint fit into the client’s existing floor space without major facility changes, and the collaborative design allowed the cell to integrate into their workflow rather than walling off a section of the shop.

Delivered in 2023, the project came in ahead of both budget and timeline — proof that the right-sized solution, engineered well, doesn’t have to be a long or expensive road to automation.
